RESTAURANT EMILE - BONGENIE - ZURICH, May 2025

More than just a restaurant, Émile, located in the heart of the emblematic Bongénie, a Zurich department store, embodies a place of sharing and conviviality around contemporary cuisine, imbued with Swiss excellence.

For the decor, the studio Maison Sarah Lavoine was inspired by modernism and the contrasts dear to Le Corbusier.

"We wanted to create sophisticated and welcoming spaces with modernist accents", explains Sarah Poniatowski.

The colors - Deep blue (signature of the place), Chinese tea (Resource x Maison Sarah Lavoine), Pale Powder and Noir - punctuate the place and dialogue with organic shapes and play of frames which let the light pass through. From the moment you enter, a feeling of comfort and naturalness emerges, while the soft volumes and rich, dense materials contribute to an immersive experience.

The restaurant was designed as a journey where each space offers a different experience. Cafeteria or lounge, confidential or open spaces, everything has been designed so that the visitor can make the place their own. The play of colors and patterns surprises the eye, the textures awaken the senses, and the lighting evolves throughout the day. Far from a fixed approach, the space transforms, revealing another facet in the evening, with subdued lighting and a more confidential atmosphere.
Far from ephemeral trends, Maison Sarah Lavoine imagined a place with a soul, faithful to its timeless style. The influence of Zurich, between Art Nouveau heritage and modernity, is felt in every detail: from the furniture to the patterns on the floor, everything tells a story and invites you to an inspiring and daring experience.
