More than just a restaurant, Émile, located in the heart of the iconic Bongénie department store in Zurich, embodies a place of sharing and conviviality around contemporary cuisine, imbued with Swiss excellence.
For the decor, the Maison Sarah Lavoine studio was inspired by modernism and the contrasts dear to Le Corbusier.
“ We wanted to create sophisticated and welcoming spaces with modernist accents ,” explains Sarah Poniatowski.
The colors—Deep Blue (the venue's signature), Chinese Tea (Resource x Maison Sarah Lavoine), Pale Powder, and Black—rhythm the space and interact with organic shapes and weave patterns that let the light through. Upon entering, a sense of comfort and naturalness emerges, while the soft volumes and rich, dense materials contribute to an immersive experience.
The restaurant was designed as a journey where each space offers a different experience. Cafeteria or lounge, private or open spaces, everything has been designed to make the visitor feel at home. The play of colors and patterns surprise the eye, the textures awaken the senses, and the lighting evolves throughout the day. Far from a fixed approach, the space transforms, revealing another facet in the evening, with subdued lighting and a more intimate atmosphere.
Far from fleeting trends, Maison Sarah Lavoine has created a space with a soul, faithful to its timeless style. Zurich's influence, blending Art Nouveau heritage with modernity, is felt in every detail: from the furniture to the floor patterns, everything tells a story and invites you to an inspiring and daring experience.
