Maison Sarah Lavoine is inaugurating its first project in Japan with the opening of Elle Café, entrusted to us by the Lagardère group. A café and restaurant in the lively Shibuya district of Tokyo.
Two levels, two universes, two decorative responses with in common touches of French know-how and respect for Japanese codes. The challenge was to find harmony between the different spaces and the different cultures.
On the ground floor, the colours are soft and light. Large structural posts are covered in white earthenware with planted planters at the top.
Noble, soft, luminous materials such as white marble, brass or polished concrete are combined with a few touches of color including the essential Sarah Blue.
Upstairs, the restaurant with its more elegant and intimate decor opens onto a wine cellar reworked like a precious chest separating the staircase from the dining room.
A large black marble bar with a play of glassware and brass tubes, sits like a work of art on a walnut parquet floor. Ornamental nod through caning work on panels, filtering the light and conveying a very soothing atmosphere.
A very successful project, an organic and now iconic café, combining the style of the House and the codes of Japanese culture.
