A family of low seats
The Léa pouf does not arrive alone. It joins poufs and stools in different materials and heights: cotton velvet, walnut-tinted rattan, chrome metal, linen. A textile pouf warms up a reading corner, a metal stool fits into a bathroom, a rattan model brings light into a bedroom. Bringing them together is often what gives the most character to a room.
In terms of proportions, a low seat should be chosen approximately at the height of the sofa it accompanies, or slightly below. Too low, it becomes uncomfortable; too high, it unbalances the whole. Around 43 centimeters is right in the majority of living rooms.
Tables, consoles and storage
The furniture of the House does not stop at the seats. Coffee tables and side tables, consoles, chairs and storage furniture form the backbone of a designer interior. A coffee table fixes the center of a living room, a console occupies an entrance without cluttering it, an end of the sofa accommodates a lamp and a cup of coffee. To keep everything together, one guideline is enough: keep a dominant material, wood for example, and allow two or three pieces to deviate from it to create relief. The rugs and decorative items are then responsible for connecting everything together.
The work of the upholsterer
A well-made seat can be recognized by details that you don't always see at first glance: the tension of the fabric on the curves, the absence of folds at the corners, the density of the foam which does not sag after six months. It is a traditional know-how that our partner workshops still practice by hand.
The choice of textiles matters just as much. A blend of linen and cotton provides a lively, slightly irregular material that takes the light well and develops a patina without deteriorating.
