The Creation
Hand-painted in Vietnam in an ancestral lacquer workshop, each piece requires more than ten manual steps. The resin from the lacquer tree, native to Vietnam, once decanted and coloured with pigments, is mixed with earth to become lacquer.
The lacquering process requires more than a dozen manual operations, the key ones being sanding and polishing at each stage.
A living material, lacquer lives and will develop a patina over time.
